Young Adults
Adults from 18 to 35 years of age are an important part of any parish. We try to provide opportunities for spiritual, social and mental growth for this vibrant demographic in our church. Below are some of the things we have going:
Irregular "Java with Jesus"
"A priest, a deacon and a nun walk into a bar...
...and they talk to young adults." Sometimes we gotta take the church to where young people are. We advertise a location such as a coffee house, a pub or the church hall, and an interesting topic such as "the role of Women in the Church", "Sex and Relationships" or "Pope Francis and the Environment" and we... talk, socialize and build up our community. One Rock Festival of faith
The first thoughts of the One Rock Festival of Faith began in August 2009, when Fr. Krystian Golisz, SDS was transferred to the small town of Rockyford, AB NE of Calgary. When he arrived the beauty of the landscape struck him as he imagined young adults gathering together for a Catholic Woodstock. It was a thought that would not leave him, and after gathering a team together in December of 2009, the first One Rock Festival was held in Rockyford, AB in 2010. There were 1000 people in attendance that first year. Rockyford would host the festival for it’s first three years.

Many attendees asked that the festival be moved closer to Calgary, and after discernment the Festival was moved, and held at Mount St. Francis in 2013, before moving to its current location at the Red Wood Meadows Fair Ground, on the Tsuut'ina Reserve where a covered facility would protect festival goers from the weather.
It seemed only fitting that the theme for each year’s World Youth Day would be celebrated at the One Rock Festival. It has become a World Youth Day at home experience where those who may never have an opportunity to travel to an international gathering for WYD have the occasion to experience, in a small way, some components of a World Youth Day without spending a lot of money to attend. The opportunity of being together with other like-minded Christians, fun events, catechesis sessions, and sacraments make up the One Rock experience.
All are welcome to attend the Festival, to camp and spend the entire weekend, or to come and go to the Festival site. The festival has become a province wide event, and Bishop Henry hopes that one day it will become a Western Canada event.
